About Sander van der Veen

Sander van der Veen lives and works in the beautiful artist village of Bergen, North Holland, where he designs and creates unique 3D and textured artworks in his own studio.

All of his works are made using sustainable materials, combined with distinctive paint and oxidation techniques. One of the key methods he uses is liquid cold metal, a process in which real metal particles — such as bronze, copper, gold, or brass — are applied to various surfaces. Through the use of polymers, the metal rises to the surface, after which it can be patinated or oxidized, giving each piece a weathered, rich, and deeply individual character.

Sander draws his inspiration from the organic forms of nature. By reinterpreting elements such as the moon, sun, rocks, and ice formations with innovative materials, he captures the raw essence of the natural world. The animal kingdom and mathematical patterns also serve as an endless source of inspiration in his creative process.

With over 35 years of experience as a painter, artist, and interior consultant, Sander masterfully brings together all these techniques to create artworks that are both visually striking and emotionally engaging.

A monochromatic artwork featuring three human figures with stylized and textured patterns. The figures are depicted from the shoulders up, with one holding an object that resembles a flower. The composition uses strong contrast with prominent highlights and shadows.

The image showcases a wavy, textured surface with flowing, organic lines and grooves. The surface has a three-dimensional appearance with gentle curves that create a sense of movement. A subtle blend of colors, including shades of purple and grey, adds depth to the abstract design.
